Dear Combini Community,
The rapid spread of COVID-19 requires close attention and due diligence from all members of society in order to slow its rate of contagion and reduce the negative effects to our community and the country as a whole. We are not exempt from responsibility to do our part, and have therefore put in place a series of protocols regarding operations, health and hygiene, and our contact with customers. This is to keep you, your close ones and St Andrews safe and healthy, while allowing us to remain open and continue to serve our products to the community.
The first set of measures concerns strict social distancing for all Combini Staff members who are taking shifts in the coming weeks. We have asked our staff members to limit their social contacts out-with CombiniCo. to partners and family members, and to avoid gatherings in public spaces. Any staff member who experiences cold- or flu-like symptoms will be asked to self-isolate and contact the NHS as advised by the UK government. Even a reduction of 25% in social contacts can slow the contagion by about 50%. We have a responsibility for the weaker members of our community, even if we don't experience severe symptoms ourselves.
The second set of measures concerns health and hygiene in our operations. We require every staff member to wash their hands with soap for at least 30 seconds before starting work and after all interruptions. All staff members, including sales, are required to wear nitrile gloves at all times, changing them regularly. This can be supplemented with hand sanitiser which will be made available to both staff and customers. Customers will no longer be able to make use of our self-serve bottles or use public bathrooms, except for washing hands. Additionally, all delivery orders for both ECOEATS and Deliveroo will be handled from the bottom, including the handover to the drivers/riders, reserving the handles for the use of the customers.
The third set of measures concerns our operations at both CombiniCo. and CombiniCafé. Both outlets will continue to offer our products, but will cease to offer sit-in options. For CombiniCafé we will reduce the opening hours to 10am-4pm. We kindly ask you to refrain from bringing your own cups, as we will be serving drinks in disposable takeaway cups only. For CombiniCo, we will limit the number of production staff to two at any given time. We may consider to implement a delivery-only policy for both outlets if the need or government recommendation should arise.
We understand that some of these are substantial changes to the way we do things at CombiniCo, but it is crucial for us to ensure that you, your close ones, and our community remain safe. Therefore we ask you to closely follow our new COVID-19 protocols, designed to comply with tested public health measures being implemented across countries in Europe and East Asia.
Please do not hesitate to ask any questions, or share your concerns with us. We are committed to keep you updated on any changes to our approach.
Thank you for your continued loyalty and commitment,
